Asa has been a part of higher ground for 3 years now,
only even a possibility because of the scholarship program. And, because the scholarship made participating a possibility, Higher Ground has made amazing adventures, engaged learning moments, positive peer interactions, outdoor recreation, independence, and much more a reality for him.
As a mom, one of my greatest moments was this summer, watching him head off with HG to do his first camping trip without a family member. Seeing the pride and confidence on his face, and in his demeanor, when he came back……there aren’t words to express the overwhelming feelings of motherly joy, pride, love, and immense grattitude.
HG’s highly trained, skilled, compassionate, engaged staff proves themselves superheroes with every program. Some of their superpowers include – getting teens to behave responsibly, gaining teenagers trust, engaging everyone (even people who don’t want to have fun) in fun activities, getting people to believe in themselves, teaching independence, instilling self confidence, blessing parents with peace of mind. Knowing these trustworthy superheroes would be watching over mine, I took a giant step and sent Asa on his first ever non family overnight. Epic Win!!
Higher Ground is known for exceptional skill , leadership, and focused training in adaptive sports and recreation. The HG organization’s greatest gift however is the staffs excellence at showing/teaching participants compassion, personal responsibility, kindness, and grit.
