July Idaho Waters Sports Family Program for Veterans and their Kids

  • Who: 5 male or female veterans and their kids!!!
  • What: A week of family-friendly recreational therapy through water sports, including waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, fishing, rafting and more – no experience necessary
  • When: July 15-21, 2020
  • Where: Pettit Lake, Stanley, Idaho
  • Accommodations: Family cabins
  • Accessibility: Some uneven terrain and steps, most activities can be adapted
  • Cost: HG covers all related costs, including travel costs for both veterans and their families

  • What: A week of camaraderie through rock climbing, hiking, and various other outdoor activities.
  • Where: Shawangunk Mountains, NY
  • Cost: Higher Ground Covers ALL related costs for veterans and their supporter

  • What: A week of recreational therapy through white water kayaking and rafting — no experience necessary
  • When: August 9 – 15, 2019
  • Where: Salmon River, Idaho
  • Accommodations: Primitive beach camping, tents provided
  • Accessibility: Must be able to enter and exit unsteady raft and traverse rocky, sandy beaches with assistance

  • Accommodations: Lodge with private bathrooms
  • Accessibility: Must be able to navigate uneven terrain and get in and out of drift boats with assistance

Idaho Ranch Rodeo Horse Program for Male and Female Veterans 

  • Who: 9 male and female veterans
    • Note: Due to COVID-19, there will be no supporters on this program because of lodging limitations.
  • What: A week of recreational therapy through horseback riding, handling, roping, cattle sorting and more. All skills learned throughout the week will culminate in a final “Ranch Rodeo” competition among all participants — Interest in equine activities is preferred

  • Where: River Sage Stables in Bellevue, Idaho
  • Accommodations: RVs
  • Accessibility: Must be able to mount horse with assistance, maintain balance on moving horse, navigate RV (ascend stairs, navigate tight spaces)
