About the Role

Higher Ground USA is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Grants Manager to lead our grant development efforts. This position plays a key role in expanding and managing HG’s grants portfolio in support of our nationally recognized therapeutic recreation programs for veterans, first responders, and individuals with disabilities. The Grants Manager is responsible for the full grants lifecycle—from identifying and applying for opportunities to managing relationships and reporting outcomes.


Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow HG’s grant funding to support operations and programs
  • Identify, pursue, and secure funding from foundations, government agencies, corporations, and community partners
  • Research funding trends and utilize tools (e.g., Instrumentl, Foundation Directory Online, AI platforms) to evaluate new opportunities
  • Write and submit high-quality proposals, LOIs, concept papers, and reports aligned with HG’s mission and funder priorities
  • Maintain standardized grant materials and coordinate with internal teams to meet deadlines, ensure compliance, and track reporting

Qualifications

✅ Bachelor’s Degree preferred
✅ 3–5 years of relevant nonprofit grant writing experience
âś… Strong writing, project management, and research skills
âś… Proficiency with grant platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Instrumentl) and emerging tools like AI-based sourcing systems
✅ Demonstrated alignment with Higher Ground’s mission and values; excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
